In 1983, Bubba and Tammy Floyd came to Kingman, by way of Ridgely, Tennessee, in search of a better life for their children (Talisha, Brandon, and Jeremy). After settling in, they realized one Southern comfort they really missed was hickory smoked BBQ.
With the help of family and friends, tireless hours were spent constructing a mobile barbecue trailer. Redneck’s Southern Pit BBQ was born, making its debut at the 2004 Mohave County Fair. Cooking at local events for 5 years and an overwhelming response from locals to open a restaurant, Bubba and Tammy felt the timing was right. In March 2009, Redneck’s Southern Pit BBQ opened its doors to the public, serving up some of their favorite family recipes and Southern hospitality.
In 2013, the next generation of Floyds began brainstorming on a new project. Brandon’s passion for pizza and encouragement of his family, the decision was made to embark on a new journey. Creating a pizza from scratch and cooking in a wood-fired oven was something Brandon dreamt about for years. Practicing in the BBQ kitchen, Brandon along with his wife, Nicole, and sister Talisha, was able to experiment with recipes and develop flavors that are truly unique. Wanting to give locals and tourists a chance to see what other small businesses around this great state have to offer, Brandon’s brother, Jeremy and sister-in-law, Debra, incorporated some of Arizona’s Artisan flavors, to include pastas, popcorn, roasted coffee, oils, vinegars, and flour in a small retail section.
Summer of 2016 Floyd & Company Wood-Fired Pizza opened right next door to its sister restaurant. Proud of what they had accomplished, and after careful consideration, rebranding the BBQ business was next. Redneck’s Southern Pit BBQ changed its name to Floyd & Company Real Pit BBQ.
